#2 Cancun Carnival (Carnaval)

This festival takes place 46 days before Easter Sunday. The carnival marks the beginning of Lent for the Catholic religion which is predominant in Mexico and is a five-day celebration of parades, floats and dance performance in the streets. Caribbean style dancers dressed in multicolored costumes perform during the parade in decorated cars. Various concerts with Caribbean music and local artists are organized and other small festivities take places throughout the Cancun area during this celebration.

#3 Semana Santa

Semana Santa consists of the last week of Lent (last week before Easter or Holy Week), so the event takes on special significance in the Catholic religion. Semana Santa is Cancun's second busiest time of the year after New Year's Eve. Easter festivities take place all around Cancun and display a strong religious theme.
